Seeding Event

Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art
Helsinki, Finland
19.09.2019

The first tree planting action was organized outside the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki September 2019 in collaboration with Harviala Oy and Mandag, in cooperation with City of Helsinki, The Finnish Association of Landscape Industries, Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) and Frame Contemporary Art Finland.

The event received a huge media attention and inspired the people of Helsinki to plant more trees. More than 4000 seedlings were distributed, in one day.

The seedlings came from the oldest seedlings company in Finland, Harviala Oy. Local companies supported the project by buying a seedling card. To mark the start for the project the team planted a walnut tree outside the museum, organized by the The Finnish Association of Landscape Industries.

“Planting trees is an effective way to combat climate change. The more trees are planted, the greater the positive effect”
